should you switch from hero to droid? yes. some quick usability comparisons after switching from the sprint htc hero to the droid:

where droid’s better (be it the hardware or eclair – i can’t tell)

• finally, a respectable response speed. (see “hero sucks” below)
• on a related note – no longer scared of opening full webpages like techcrunch – browser won’t freeze/crawl
• when wifi is available, it turns off the 3g to switch to something that looks like edge to save batteries.. or maybe it just disconnects data altogether?
• multiple gmail contacts sync (calendar sync is with only one)
• unified multiple imap/exchange inbox
• seems to have a stronger bluetooth receptivity, because with hero, when i placed the phone on the left hand side of my body (i’m left handed, so that’s a better position while i bike) while listening to music, i used to get frequent interruptions and i thought it was the headset’s (blueant x5) fault. turns out i no longer have this issue with the droid.
• contacts app includes a “join duplicate contacts” feature
• i am not 100% sure but it seems the design is ambidexterous compatible! i have been instinctively using this with my left hand. (i’m left handed)

where droid sucks

• non-standard microUSB/charging port. (hero has a standard microusb) moto why did you have to do this to me.. :/
• the button placement still leads to hitting the wrong ones at the wrong times multiple times a day
• the tiniest possible power button – it’s hiding behind a small chin and it’s hard to press it without looking at it.

i haven’t used outlook in a long time, but when i see people writing email content (and links) on the subject line i’ve got to suspect there’s something seriously messed up with the user experience – maybe the WYSIWYG text editor of outloook is too slow?

Q: if i request three days off for sick leave, get it approved, and go home to rest but i still work at home, who am i really working for?

미국에서 스팸 메일이 opt-out 이라는 얘기 http://www.dal.kr/blog/archives/000776.html 를 @gatolog 님의 글 http://gatorlog.com/?p=1485 을 통해 읽고 깜짝 놀라서 관련 정책을 찾아보니 이런 흉칙한 법이 있다: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAN-SPAM_Act_of_2003 기본적으로 스팸을 보내도 되고 다만 opt-out 만 할 수 있게 하면 된다는 이야기다. 이건 내가 경험한 업계 규칙과 완전히 다른데? CC http://www.constantcontact.com/uidocs/CCSpamPolicy.jsp 이나 CM http://www.campaignmonitor.com/anti-spam/ 의 정책을 보면 분명히 opt-in 정책을 이야기하고 있다. 이것을 무시하고 여기저기서 긁어모은 주소로 이메일을 보내면 어떻게 될까? 수많은 스팸신고가 이어지고 Sendmail을 전담한 서버는 블랙리스트 먹고 처음에 그 이메일을 보냈던 계정은 정지 당한다. 사용자의 인식+(합법)업계의 대응으로 이루어진 현실이 법보다 앞서나간다니 꽤나 보기 드문 경우 같다

tuve un sueño super raro donde estaba en mi cuarto, tenía harta sed y me estaba tragando agua pero como tomaba agua demasiado rápido, no alcanzaba a saciar la sed, porque el agua iba directo al esófago y pasaba al estómago, y no mojaba la lengua. y seguía tomando.. fue tan real que cuando desperté chequeé mi water jug para ver si había tomado. sueño raro

so I have 73 people out of 487 contacts from my work email added as facebook contacts – some are so old I need to run a search to remember who they were! should have added them earlier – i wonder if facebook could sync with my gmails and suggest friends for only new entries in the contact book?
