Altria and SCHIP?
At the Senate Finance Committee Public Hearing (news?)on the SCHIP program, I found an Altria staff waiting on the line to the hearing room. Now, Altria, as it turns out, is the parent company of Kraft Foods and Philip & Morris, and has a very bad corporate reputation – #2 20% in Lowest Corporate Trust and #5 33% on Lowest Ethical Standards at the Wall Street Journal. What were they doing at SCHIP?

But for many Korean-American students, that is when the real learning begins.
“Hagwon” schools are traditional Korean after-school institutes that have migrated to the United States along with Korean immigrants.
Now, with first- and second-generation Koreans migrating to Santa Clarita, more and more hagwons are opening their doors locally. (more…)
