    빵과 닭다리

    두달전에 맛있어서 산 바게트 빵이 칼로리가 너무 높아서 안 먹고 쟁여놓다가 수분이 다 증발해 말라비틀어져가고 있었는데 어제 정말 오랜만에 meal kit이 아닌 밥을 한 뒤 “저 빵을 밥통에 넣어두면 대충 수분 보충되겠다” 라는 생각이 들었다. 그래서 대충 머리속에서 큰 그림만 그린 뒤 (수분 보충한 빵+남은 닭고기는 팬에서 그을린 뒤+에어프라이에서 이것저것 섞어서 구워서+샌드위치 만들어먹으면 되겠지)

    닭을 그을리고 있는데 먼저 배달아저씨가 문열어달라며 부르고 바로 이어서 급한 업무 전화가 왔다. 블루투스 헤드폰으로 연결해서 양손으로 요리하면서 통화해보려고 했는데 가끔 그렇듯이 전화기가 또 먹통이 되면서 통화를 씹어서(…) 할수없이 한손으로 전화기 들고 한손으로 집게로 고기를 뒤집어가면서 얘기했다. 그리고 통화 끝나고 대충 썰어서 에어프라이에 넣었는데 사실 샌드위치를 해먹으려면 썰면 안되는데 왜 그랬을까 ㅎㅎㅎ 그리고 굽자마자 시계 보니 12시 회의에 이미 5분 늦은 상태라서 그걸 대충 이것저것 발라서 접시에 담아서 회의하면서 먹기 시작. 그 결과가 이거..

    맛은 무난한 편이었는데 뭔가 정체를 알 수 없는 요상한 재료들의 세트가 되어버린거다. 그리고 저거 보면서 “아 야채를 좀 더 넣어줘야겠네” 생각했는데 사실은 고기 구울 때 미리 nappa 를 썰어놓았었는데 전화하면서 까맣게 잊어버렸던 거였다 아직도 채에 담긴채로 올려져 있는 상태였음

    Plate came out pretty bland.. as has been the pattern with these improv stuff. I’m gonna need something cold or hard to mix up the flavors (eg vinegar-soaked radishes or onions or nuts). Next time gotta add some salt & pepper on the rice as well.

  • Dish drying rack

    I’ve had this drying rack which I was using in the previous apt as well (one got a bit moldy-ish? and got the same model again)

    The problem is the drying rack is that it needs to be cleaned every once in a while, and I can clean the mat when I notice it’s too dirty but the metallic grid is kind of hard to clean. And weird white color rust? mold? type things were accumulating on the corners of the grid, which seemed hard to get rid of.

    I was looking for racks online, and there was this approach to drying racks which is instead of draining on a mat and then let the water drain down to the sink by angling the mat, placing the rack directly above the sink. Interesting..

    I’m not sure this will require less cleaning, but wanted to try it out and here it is. It was a bit of a mixing and matching things around to ensure the webcam above the cutting board still has a direct line of sight and having the space to hang the recipe where I usually hang it, but I think this setup will do and the fact that the entire rack was completely modular and allows for anything to be placed anywhere (with some limitations) really helps.

    i’ve been trying out having a second desk set up right next to the window. Having the main desk next to the window is one of the setups I tried out in the beginning, but ended up moving it away, I don’t remember now why.. maybe the glare? And there was a lot of afternoon sunlight shining over the entire half of the lounge, which now I learned to shield with blinds which helps a lot with room temps. But anyway just mentally, having more of the sunlight directly and passing cars seen through my peripheral vision i think would be helpful.
